Jets owner Woody Johnson claims Tim Tebow was “forced” on him

Former Broncos GM Ted Sundquist, who interviewed for the Jets GM job nine days ago, said owner Woody Johnson told him the Tebow trade wasn’t his idea. Johnson said the trade was “forced” on him and team president Neil Glat.
Johnson and Glat are added to a growing list of Jets sources who never wanted Tebow. Rex Ryan also washed his hands of it, saying that he would have played Tebow if he thought the backup QB could help the team win.
Johnson seems to have cast blame for the Tebow drama on former GM Mike Tannenbaum, who got the ax after the Jets’ disappointing season.
The Jets are expected to part ways with Tebow next month.

I don't watch pro football anymore, seems like the owners all want to coach or call the plays from the heated box.
What little I do know about it, Tebow was a winner in college and Hiesman trophy, and the Broncos got farther last season with him than Manning.
The Jets were forced to takeTebow how? Tebow will make some team a winner, it just won't be the Jets.
Personally I think God is on Tebows side, and the Jets owner whats his name, will be like the owner of the cowboys, getting his rocks off and getting a new coach every couple of years, about the only thing that makes him feel good.

I am so sick of the Jets blaming their failure as a team on outside forces. It pisses me off to no end how they have treated Tebow. I mean you can just see the guys spirit being stomped and smeared into the ground. If I know anything it is that Tebow is a nice guy and will give his all to a team. The jets suck because they blame him for their pathetic coaching and pathetic starting QB. Poor Tebow just wants to play and damn people since when do we not build up a team around a QB and build up their confidence and skill? What happened to giving someone a few years to get in the groove. So what if their wildcat offense didn't work. I still think Tebow can play, he just needs a bit of work and polish. But running your mouth and talking trash about him every chance you get is wrong. What do you think that does to his confidence and feelings about his team? Great way to break a good man you jerks. Two knuckleheads owner Woody and coach Rex had their virtue compromised when Tim Tebow was "forced upon them". Say what? are they kidding. These two make Inspector Clouseau look like a rocket scientist. Please Woody sell the team to someone who care and has a brain-- yours must have been donated to a lab along with Rex's for a back up. I think the Jets thought tebow was good unitl they got him on the team. It's obvious Jets wanted to do that stupid wildcat popwarner thing. They hire sparano and tebow? hmmm..... They wanted to run the wildcat but then realized it is lame. I thought had the Jets made the playoff, they would pull out the wildcat as some sort of "secret weapon"

Nobody forces Woody Johnson to do anything. He is the owner of the team which means that nobody is over him. He has the final word on everything and anything the Jets do or don't do. He's full of you-know-what.

Maybe Johnson needs to look up the definition of "owner". Ridiculous. I'm not sure if Tebow will ever be a successful NFL QB, but one thing is certain. He's got way too much class as a person to fit in with this organization.

I still think that Tebow would be a good fit for the '9ers next season as a backup. He's the same type of quarterback as Kaepernick, but nowhere near as good. Trade A.Smith to the Jets for Tebow, a 2nd and 3rd round pick, and some extra $, and it'd be a win-win for both teams...
@Brannon Nelson NOBODY is giving up a 2nd round pick or a 3rd round pick for Tebow. At best he has potential to be a star fullback or tight end. He does NOT have the potential to be a star quarterback in the NFL.

Either Sundquist is lying or Johnson is spreading a giant layer of BS. Any decision to bring in a Tebow comes from the top because of the cap issues.

Ever see so many "experts" on the game of football doing the CYA after they screwed the pooch on a guy's career by their total incompitence??? Going by their standards, Jhonny Unitas was a failure at QB and we all know the answer to that little issue. Tebow does everything wrong but he wins games and last time I looked, that was the object of playing the game. The kid ought to sue them senseless over what they did to him!
