Clippers guard Chris Paul to miss Monday’s game vs. Grizzles with knee injury
Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul will not play in the team’s road game against the Memphis Grizzles and could miss the game against the Houston Rockets tomorrow night as well, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Paul sat out the Clippers’ shootaround on Monday with a contusion in his right kneecap. Paul was injured against the Orlando Magic when he and Magic guard J.J. Redick bumped knees late in the Clippers’ 104-101 loss to Orlando on Saturday. Eric Bledsoe will start in Paul’s place.
“I don’t know yet. If a miracle comes through. I hope so. I want to play, no question. But if I feel like I’ll hinder the team, then I won’t. It’s a little swollen,” Paul said when asked if he will play against Memphis. “I’ll see if I can get it out by game time.”
Paul is averaging 16.9 points, 9.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game for the Clippers (28-9), who are one game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record in the Western Conference.
Memphis will also be without one of its top scores as guard Rudy Gay will miss Monday’s game in order to attend the funeral of his grandmother.
