NFL Draft: LSU’s Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, and Bennie Logan declare

The Louisiana State University defense just got even thinner thanks to the NFL Draft. Just days after junior cornerback Tharold Simon declared for the 2013 NFl Draft, ESPN’s Joe Schad reports that a trio of Tiger juniors have followed his path: DEs Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery and DT Bennie Logan.

Mingo is the standout name among the group, for reasons other than his name itself. The junior is rated the #6 overall player in this year’s class by ESPN/Scouts and is considered a contender for the best defensive player in a defense-heavy draft. Fellow pass-rusher Montgomery is ranked #17 by ESPN/Scouts, while 6-3, 295 pound lineman Logan is ranked #47.
In addition to those three and Simon, the Tigers have also lost safety Eric Reid, linebacker Kevin Minter, and running back Spencer Ware to the draft this year as early entrants.
