Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is nearing the end of a brilliant Hall of Fame career. With five championships, one MVP award and over 30,000 career points, Bryant’s Lakers are struggling this season to reach the .500 mark.

Bryant expressed some self-doubt as he is in his 17th season and admitted that when he played with Shaquille O’Neal that they could have won more titles.

“The big thing for me was when he did an interview in ESPN magazine and he said that he felt like I couldn’t win without him. I was fine up until that point,” Bryant said. “I’d be damned if I retired and you [reporters] said I couldn’t win without this guy. After that, the line was drawn in the sand.”

“Everybody has it. I’m human just like everybody else,” he said to the Los Angeles Times when asked about self-doubt. “I think the way I react to it is probably a little different than anybody else. I don’t feed into it. I’m able to face it. I’m able to deal with it. I’m able to roll through it.”

The Lakers are 15-17 after a 107-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Bryant, the NBA’s leading scorer this season, is under contract for $30 million for one more season with the team.

Interesting  in the who is better KOBE or SHAQ discussion.  JORDAN, SHAQ, MAGIC, and even LeBron would NEVER have the RECORD the LAKERS have today if they could replace KOBE at the SAME age. KOBE can NOT make other PLAYERS play BETTER. He is NOT the #2  player of all time. Jordan is not #1, why?  Because KAREEM never fielded a bad TEAM, and was a threat to win the championship EVERY YEAR of his CAREER, nor did  Magic J field a BAD TEAM.  KOBE has FLAWS in INTANGIBLES which would change the outcome more often than you think.
