Scott Pioli is out as the Kansas City Chiefs general manager according to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter.

The move likely precedes the hiring of head coach Andy Reid and the addition of new front-office personnel who have experience working with Reid including recently fired Browns general manager Tom Heckert and/or Packers director of operations John Dorsey.

Reid, who was fired by the Eagles after leading them to the playoffs nine times in 14 seasons, reportedly cancelled interviews with the Cardinals and Chargers.

The Chiefs hired Pioli as general manager in 2009 after eight years as vice-president/player personnel for the Patriots. He was a five-time winner of the NFL Executive of the Year award while helping when the Patriots win three Super Bowls and four AFC championships.

Keep up with all the moves with a scorecard.

Knew this was coming when they announced that Reid was probably going to be the Coach, he is gonna want one of his guys running that part. Pioli is a good GM and should be somewhere else soon.

As a Broncos fan, I'm going to miss Pioli running the Chiefs...

Does this officially make Bill Bellichek the smartest football mind in the past two decades?  I'm not on Patriot kool-aid, but how many disciples/people involved with Patriots that have failed without Bellichek?  Seems like everyone.

Dustin Madlung How many titles did Belichik win since Spygate?

Dustin Madlung No. This makes Bellicheat the lucky recipient of Tom Brady.  BB himself has been below .500 without Brady and the Pats lucked into this particular round 6 pick and BB was sitting Brady BEHIND Drew Bledsoe until an injury FORCED him to play Brady.  The Pats organization is strong from ownership down ... Belichick FAILED in Cleveland where he did not have the same support nor the same good fortune.
