Report: Arizona Cardinals ‘very close’ to hiring Andy Reid as head coach

We all know that the plastic sheet he looks at during games is not a play sheet....it's a Waffle House menu

What's wrong with coaching the Bears Reid? Tooo cold? OR, do you have a "GUT" feeling about a downward spiral for the Bears? You need to rub the belly, and make sure the "Buddha" is making the right choice in picking a team that's closest to getting to the SB.....NOT that I care as a Packer fan. 

Bidwells manage to screw things up just like they have done with their last three coaches.  They hire a big name coach and give him total personnel authority.  Then when things start to go bad, they look to the GM to pull their chestnuts out of the fire, but he can't fire anyone, only a Bidwell can do that.  Rod Graves did the best he could, but he was stymied every time by a headstrong Head Coach and an owner who couldn't pull the trigger until it was far too late, then they fire the GM for not doing a job that wasn't his.  

My rationale for my conclusions; I know Graves personally.  He knew they needed a new coach two years ago, but couldn't fire him because the owners didn't want to pay the remainder of the salary.   Secondly, Any body who knows Andy Reid knows that he won't sign a deal where he doesn't have total control.  That's why he is being hired first.  The new GM will be an adviser only.     

Jack Williams - Well, Fisher and Harbaugh will.  Reid is now an older coach looking for a fat paycheck.  The Cardinals are just the doormat, I mean team for that.  Look for Reid's time in AZ to be short lived, and look for the Cardinals to be last place every year Reid is their HC.  

Harbaugh, Fisher, and Reid will provide plenty of competition for Carroll. His rep as a genius up in Seattle will be short lived. The NFC West will be a scrum for the next decade.

Keep in mind that the Cardinals were also duped into (and overpaying for) Eagles QB Kevin Kolb.  How well has that trade worked out for the Arizona Cardinals?  The usual - not good.  

Oh, excellent, because it worked out so well the last time the Cardinals hired a fired Eagles' Head Coach.

Who the hell knows what Buddy Ryan was saying, or how badly he failed as the Cardinals'  Head Coach, or how Reid will do the exact same thing.  Re-tread NFL coaches - not good.  Energetic college coaches from winning programs - good.  The Cardinals should be going after Chip Kelly, but of course the HC spot in Philadelphia just opened, and Kelly will be getting that job.  (And will be more successful in Philadelphia than Reid will be in Arizona).

Glad Andy Reid was able to get back on his feet 1 day after being laid off. That being said, Im not sure if he should jump back into coaching. Seems like he should take a year off to spend with his family and mourn the death of his son. Losing a child cant be easy and Its obvious he didnt have his mind 100% on the job which is what you must do to be a HC in the NFL. Hopefully this season will be better for him but me being a Niner Fan, I can only wish mediocrity to the Arizona Cardinals.. GO NINERS!

Good for Andy. No unemployment checks for him. As for 'violating the spirit of the Rooney Rule', Im afraid it happens all the time. I've heard coaches say that just going through the interview process is valuable, but it's clear that owners usually know who they want to hire and are frequently just going through the motions interviewing minority candidates.

The Cardinals could have Vince Lombardi coach for them and they would still be the worst franchise in the league.

Vince Young just may get a tryout now....
