Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will be fired on Monday morning ending his 14-year tenure with the team, reports the Delaware County Daily Times.

Reid, a three-time NFL Coach of the Year, still has one year left on his contract that pays him more than $6 million a year. The report says it is not known if the team and Reid will reach a financial settlement.

The Eagles were beaten 42-7 by the New York Giants in the team’s season finale on Sunday, finishing 4-12 and missing the playoffs for the second straight season.

Reid, 54, led the Eagles to nine playoff appearances, seven division titles, five NFC title game appearances and a Super Bowl berth.

“Either way, I understand. If I’m here again, I’ll love every minute of it. If I’m not, I’ll understand that too,” Reid said after the game.

Owner Jeff Lurie hinted prior to the start of the season that a repeat of the 8-8 finish Reid’s Eagles had in 2011 wouldn’t be good enough for him to finish out his current contract, speculation that Reid would go has been rampant for months.

Reid had a 130-93-1 regular season record with the team, and is the winningest and losingest coach in the history of the franchise. He was also 10-9 in the postseason.

Agreed. Didn't know any person or news source even monitored that small town rag.

This is probably the best thing that could happen to Reid. he will get another position soon and it will be in an environment less volatile than Philly.

While I understand Andy had a large responsibility to the players and fans of the Eagles, I can only imagine that the death of his son this year has not been easy for him to get over.

I guess the 'news' here is that it will be Monday and not today that Reid will be fired. But he'll get a new job as son as he wants one. Like Jeff Fisher.

Eagles are going after Chip Kelly, and there are rumors Reid might be heading to San Diego

Wow, using the Delco Times as a source. They typically run stories about local town meetings and school notices. Way to go Delco Times!

In other unexpected breaking news.  It has been reported by the main stream media (approved by the white house) that the sun will come up on the eastern horizon tomorrow also.
