Eagles want Chip Kelly to replace Andy Reid, according to report

If, as expected, the Philadelphia Eagles let go of head coach Andy Reid at the end of the season, they are expected to make a hard push to land Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to replace Reid.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that the Eagles are expected to target Kelly quickly, and that he could soon become the favorite for the position. La Canfora reported that Kelly is “expected to make the jump” from Oregon to the NFL because of possible sanctions that could be coming to the university’s football program.
The NCAA investigated Oregon after questions about a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service. Lyles was involved with a player from Texas who committed to Oregon.
Kelly flirted with the possibility of becoming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach after last season, but he ultimately backed out after almost agreeing to a deal, saying he had “unfinished business to complete” at Oregon. The Ducks will finish out their season Jan. 3 in the Fiesta Bowl against Kansas State.
The 49-year-old Kelly is considered one of the brightest offensive minds in college football. In four seasons as Oregon’s head coach, he has a record of 45-7. He has led the Ducks to four consecutive BCS bowl games, including the 2010 BCS National Championship game.
I'd like to see Kelly go to the Eagles because that would eliminate any chance of him coming to San Diego. I don't like the guy. I hated the halftime interview during a recent game when he was asked about an injury that occurred during the first half. Kelly responded something like, "What injury? We don't give any attention to injuries here." I wonder if that's what he tells parents when trying to recruit their son?

LikeThese college coaches who leave their employer in trouble w/ NCAA sanctions need to be fined HEAVILY if found even partially responsible and if they leave for another college job some of the sanctions should follow them to the new gig. I'm sure Kelly knew what was up w/ this shady Willie Lyles, Lache Seastrunk, et al.

Fined by whom? You expect the NFL would fine a coach for something that happened in college? I doubt if that would even be legal. The only thing that could happen would be restrictions put upon the coach and the hiring school should he want to return to colege football.

LikeNot really. I live in Oregon and this whole thing has been investigated to death by the NCAA and the media for the last year and a half. Coach Kelly has taken appropriate measures every time a student/athlete broke a rule. It's turned into more of a witch hunt by the media.

LikeKevinFinchNo, this is not true. Coach Kelly tried having the police tapes of his star QB hidden since the star was telling police they had already smoked the dope. Coach Kelly got his players out of legal trouble with his influence. Coach Kelly has hardly addressed the fringe benefits his players get and says nothing about the reports half his team smokes dope.. no, all he says is they will test more. Well we ever hear about the results? Hell no, any positive test will be buried until after the player leaves the school.

One of the craziest coaching changing seasons, is only getting crazier. Keep up with a scorecard. Just imagine how good the Duck offense could be with a Vick style guy. Ok they probably should get Tebow if they want a quarterback who can survive that offense in the NFL. But he aint the first college coach that wanted to know if his system could work in the NFL

LikeBe careful saying that. Bama lost a whole season bc a player signed his name on a napkin. Ohio State got hammered bc they lied and covered up the fact that players were selling/trading their swag and equipment. If Oregon is found to have lied or covered this up they will get hammered also. Unfortunately most schools get punished to the nth degree as a warning to the rest. LikeKevinFinch I actually don't think there is any doubt that they violated the rule and the media hasn't beat it to death, if anything the have let is slide, along with the rampant drug use of the players on the team. Coach Kelly can't keep his college players in line and moving to the NFL he will find he has no control.

LikeI guess the way for a college coach to move up to the NFL is to violate NCAA rules. Considered poison to college teams but diamonds to NFL teams.
