The Dolphins announced the signing of kicker Nate Kaeding on Friday. He will replace kicker Dan Carpenter who has been placed on the reserve/injured list.

Kaeding was a perfect seven-of-seven on field goal attempts and six-of-six on PATs with the Chargers this season. The two-time Pro Bowl pick injured his groin in practice on Sept. 28, was released from injured reserve and became a free agent on Oct. 30 after nine years with the Chargers.

His 87.0 percent conversion rate ranks him as the most accurate kicker in NFL history.

Kaeding’s career has been blemished by notable misses in the playoffs including three missed field goals in a 17-14 loss to the Jets in January 2010. As a rookie, he also missed a 40-yard attempt in overtime in a playoff loss to the Jets. Kaeding is just 8 of 15 (53.3 percent) in eight career playoff games.
