U.S. Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton admits to secret life as escort

Three-time U.S. Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton admitted to working as a Las Vegas escort for the past year, reportedly offering her services as recently as Dec. 5 in a secret life that she said only her husband had known about until now, TheSmokingGun.com first reported on Thursday.
Favor Hamilton, 44, who also runs a real estate brokerage firm in Wisconsin with her husband, was once featured in a Nike television commercial, a swimsuit calendar and had more recently been involved in promotional work with Disney. Her work as a call girl had allegedly taken her to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston and she was getting paid upwards of $600 per hour. According to the rates posted on the website of the company that allegedly handled her business, Haley Heston, she charged $6,000 for a 24-hour period.
The report states Favor Hamilton worked under the fake name “Kelly Lundy” but she said she often revealed her true identity, including her past life as an Olympic mid-distance runner, to clients who she thought would keep it a secret, an assumption she is now calling “a huge mistake.”
On Thursday, Favor Hamilton sent out a series of tweets taking responsibility for her actions:
I realize I have made highly irrational choices and I take full responsibility for them. I am not a victim here and knew what I was doing. I was drawn to escorting in large part because it provided many coping mechanisms for me when I was going through a very challenging time with my marriage and my life. It provided an escape from a life that I was struggling in. It was a double life.
I do not expect people to understand, but the reasons for doing this made sense to me at the time and were very much related to depression. As crazy as I know it seems, I never thought I would be exposed, therefore never hurting anybody. I have been seeking the help of a psychologist for the past few weeks and will continue to do so after I have put things together. I cannot emphasize enough how sorry I am to anyone I have hurt as a result of my actions and greatly appreciate the support from family and those closest to me. I fully intend to make amends and get back to being a good mother, wife, daughter, and friend.
According to TheSmokingGun, Favor Hamilton originally admitted to her double life as “Kelly” to a reporter in a Las Vegas casino, and was concerned about being attacked as a “homewrecker.”
Favor Hamilton, who has a seven-year-old daughter with her husband, competed in the Olympics in 1992, 1996 and 2000 but never medaled. She finished her career at the University of Wisconsin as the most decorated female track-and-field athlete in NCAA history; the Athlete of the Year award for the Big 10 Conference is named after her. In addition to her work with Nike, she has also appeared in national ads for Reebok, Clairol, Oakley and Pert Plus.
The report cites her as taking “full responsibility” for her mistakes:
“I take full responsibility for my mistakes. I’m not the victim and I’m not going that route. I’m owning up to what I did. I would not blame anybody except myself.” She added, “Everybody in this world makes mistakes. I made a huge mistake. Huge.”
Favor Hamilton had reportedly already been in contact with certain clients to let them know that she would soon be leaving the escort business, a claim she said had nothing to do with learning that TheSmokingGun was working on the story.

LikeWhy is this even a story? Whose business is it but hers and her family's? Why are the comments so misogynistic? Why is sex work illegal in the US while assault rifles are everywhere? In most other countries, Canada included, prostitution is legal. Where is the victim in this supposed "crime?" Grow up US and get your act together and leave this woman alone.

Litttle V, I didn't realize that's how the law works, hopefully your assessment will soon apply to nuclear energy and environmental destruction, which, as you say, since most people are against it, should be illegal....any clue why majority doesn''tr ule there? your logicis...well, simple...sorry..

LikeWhat is strange about all this - she could of gone to work at one of the LEGAL brothels in Nevada, but she choose this clandestine and risky route instead.
Frankly, this is only a story because of her status as an Olympian, and a non-medal winner at that...otherwise it would be a big WHO CARES. She isn't the only one who has had problems with her marriage, depression, and the whole list of other things, but at some point you decide to get help rather than take a risky way out....

Like"Favor Hamilton had reportedly already been in contact with certain clients to let them know that she would soon be leaving the escort business, a claim she said had nothing to do with learning that TheSmokingGun was working on the story."
However, it very likely had EVERYTHING to do with why that one client outed her TO The Smoking Gun. Some clients have been known to become jealously attached to high-end prostitutes. It's that whole so-called "Girl Friend Experience" (GFE in the trade). She seemed to be pretty confident which one had done it, which probably means that he was pleading or angry with her when she told him, which she did several of her regulars.
Some guys get the Navy SEAL training necessary to do the deed properly while working on a movie set. Others have to content themselves with passive-aggressive isht like this.

LikeA uniquely honest explanation of her behavior. Obviously intelligent and troubled. Everybody has problems to cope with, and it's a relative few who can handle them without revealing a dark side. She's got emotional problems and acts them out non violently. I've got no problem with her.

Likescp1957 MWP Her husband was aware of the situation, so they may have been in the process of trying to work it out. The biggest problem for the relationship is that it went public, out there where it becomes just another lurid news story. His story would give more balance to my perception. Then again, it could blow it apart. too. I feel empathy for them both.

LikeMWP She always intended that it should become public; don't kid yourself. This was just a passive-aggressive way of freeing herself to continue to enjoy BBC. (I've come upon some of the boards frequented by those in this so-called "lifestyle", so I'm pretty sure of what I've written.)
He's really got nothing to take back. She has already decided that she needs something else to float her boat. Being a drama queen and a dishonest quitter, though, she didn't bother to leave him any dignity at all.
I feel no empathy whatsoever for her. She couldn't possibly have engineered a greater disaster for him. (Killing herself and the kid might've come close. Maybe. Even that he might've moved past, though. This? Not unless he's emotionally prepared to embrace the anxious and dubious benefits of cuckoldry.)
Go and read the full story at The Smoking Gun. She's promising to serve as a role model for others in her situation. More spotlights for Suzy! Milk her next fifteen minutes for all that it's worth. Maybe she can go to her daughter's next career day and tell the little ones about her proud new career titillating the other bored housewives with tales of the Big Ones That Didn't Get Away.
The dude thinks that he was run over by a bus. Truth is, that was just the first wave of soldier ants. And he's surrounded, what with the daughter and the joint real estate business (which relies on reputation) and all. He can't even leave the cozy, incestuous upper class communities of Madison. The man is F'ed.
