Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for his post-game attire after the Redskins’ Week 14 win over the Baltimore Ravens, the NFL announced Wednesday night.

Griffin violated the league protocol by wearing an Adidas sweatsuit and t-shirt to the post-game press conference. Though Griffin has a personal endorsement deal with Adidas, the league’s official equipment sponsorship belongs to Nike. Griffin left that game in the closing stages of the fourth quarter with a leg injury, while backup Kirk Cousins led the Redskins to a crucial win.

Fined for wearing clothes? They're his clothes. Who really cares?

$10K. Well worth it to Adidas.  That is cheap advertising. I am sure they paid for the fine plus a bonus.

The NFL is an amazing thing. When you are on their property you follow their rules or you go play in Calgary.

Am I the only one whose first, and only, thought was "what an entirely CS outfit" ?

The NFL has so many real problems: trying somehow to nurture a game that we have learned in the last few years is essentially dangerous to the future mental health of all who play it well.  Now the league has rules that baffles even the best announcers, and players who have very reasonably built their craft to the point that we seldom see a game without at least one major, season ending, injury.

And they are worrying about their hottest star, who has just been injured, showing up sober, polite, and neatly dressed in the "wrong" company's clothing.  How can that not be "majoring on the minors" ?

Does anyone seriously think Adidas isn't going to somehow reimburse RGIII for the fines he incurs from the NFL by promoting the Adidas brand?
