Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville will replace Butch Jones and become the new head coach at Cincinnati, reports ESPN.com.

Jones left Cincinnati to become the new coach at Tennessee on Friday. A report says a news conference is set for later Saturday to introduce Tuberville. Tuberville’s buyout to leave Texas Tech for Cincinnati is $900,000.

A Texas Tech official said the school was “completely blindsided” by the decision.

Tuberville had a 20-17 record in three years at Texas Tech. The Red Raiders went 7-5 this season to reach the Meineke Car Care Bowl against Minnesota. The Red Raiders lost four of their final five games to end the season.

Before arriving at Texas Tech, Tuberville spent 10 seasons at Auburn, winning 85 games before resigning after the 2008 season. Tuberville’s career overall record is 130-77.
