The Yankees have reportedly made a contract offer to Kevin Youkilis, according to a report from ESPN. General manager Brian Cashman declined to confirm the offer, but sources said a one-year, $12 million deal was offered to the third baseman.

The Yankees are trying to lure Youkilis to replace Alex Rodriguez, who will undergo surgery on the labrum in his left hip in mid-January and is expected to need four to six months of recovery.

The Indians are also interested in Youkilis, a three-time All-Star. Youkilis made $12.3 million last season and hit .235 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs in 122 games split between the Red Sox and White Sox.

Red Sox need Youkillis and his on base percentage far more than rival Yankees! Sox also need Youk back in clubhouse! Sox should get in the bidding. Youk's Intangible is that he is clutch hitter whose hits come at crucial points in game!
