The Texas Rangers could look into trading pitcher Derek Holland if they pick up another starter, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported on Sunday.

The 26-year-old left-hander signed a five-year, $28 million extension in March. But he regressed a bit from his 2011 regular-season and postseason performances, going 12-7 with a 4.67 ERA in 2012.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are considered one of the leaders in the sweepstakes for starter Zack Greinke, who is widely viewed as the top free-agent prize of the offseason. Greinke, 29, went 15-5 with a 3.48 ERA last season.

If the Rangers do sign Greinke or acquire another starter, it would have starters Yu Darvish, Alexi Ogando, Matt Harrison, Martin Perez and Holland also in the rotation. Rosenthal reported that the Rangers could then dangle Holland for some help on offense. The Rangers are also trying to re-sign offensive stalwarts Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli.

Not a smart move, I think Holland will bounce back this year.  Maybe had a bit of a tired arm...
