James Franklin will continue his program-building project at Vanderbilt. Outkickthe coverage.com reports that the Commodores’ head football coach will sign an extension to his current contract at the SEC school he has molded into a respectable program.

Though the report does not state how long the extension is for, it does cite sources that claim the deal comes with a promise of major upgrades to the school’s football facilities, includion stadium renovations, new locker rooms, and raises for assistant coaches.

Franklin has been one of the most-targeted coaches by schools with vacancies at the position, mainly due to his success at a school where many have failed. Franklin led the perennial SEC cellar dweller to a 6-6 record and a bowl appearance last season – a campaign he improved upon this year with an 8-4 record and a second consecutive bowl game.

Franklin was reportedly on the radar for the vacant head coaching positions at Arkansas, Tennessee, and Auburn.
