Plaxico Burress officially signs with Steelers

Wide receiver Plaxico Burress has officially signed with the Steelers, reports the Washington Post.
Injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich have the Pittsburgh Steelers scrambling at quarterback and at wide receiver, so the team signed Brian Hoyer and Plaxico Burress today.
Burress was taken in the first round of the 2000 draft (eighth overall) by the Steelers. He played for the Jets last season after spending nearly two years in jail for illegal possession of a firearm.
Analysts weighed in on Twitter:
Plaxico Burress is officially a Steeler. Surprised it didn't happen sooner. But could be intriguing… Especially in the red zone—

I'm told Plaxico Burress was impressive in his discussions with the Steelers–contrite and convincing.—

Burress, 35, had 612 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games with the Jets last year.
