Derek Dooley will be fired as the head football coach at the University of Tennessee after this season, according to a report on Tennessee-focused Rivals site volquest.com.

Dooley has been under increasing scrutiny throughout this season, his third in charge of the Volunteer football program. His team is winless in the Southeastern conference and owns a 4-6 record overall. The team’s last loss to SEC newcomer Missouri was especially bad – Tennessee held a two touchdown lead, but allowed the Tigers to rally back. Missouri won the game 51-48 after four overtimes.

The Volunteers have a 15-20 record in three seasons with Dooley at the helm, with a 4-18 mark against SEC competition.

Maybe Tennessee can raffle off Dooleys stool??? For charity? Never saw a coach sitting on a stool before as the game was actually going on. What a whoosie weak guy Dooley is.

Dooley was a mishire but Kiffin left them hanging. Tennessee deserves a man for a coach not a weak wimp like Dooley.

Dooley should be a baker and make cream puffs and cakes but football is not for Dooley.

How about Phillip Fulmer?  "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'till it's gone".

Dooley is too wimpy and soft to be a head coach of anything. Football coaches have to be strong leaders not wimps. Dooley sitting on a stool on the sidelines was the clincher showing his weakness and high wimp factor.  Could you ever imagine Fulmer sitting on a step stool coaching a game??

@ThomasWayneWren Yes, we know what we had with Fulmer.  We had a coach who guided the Vols to the national championship at the end of the 1998 season and then sat back and allowed the program to begin declining.  I appreciate all that Fulmer did for Tennessee, but he is NOT the answer to the current issues.

Losing Fulmer was the absolute right thing for UT, it just took them to long to get him out. As a UT alum I actually really like Dooley as a person. He has great character, however unfortunately that doesn't win ball games. I'm anxious to see who we end up with, a lot of folks are saying Kirby Smart is the front runner...we shall see.

@Al6 Fulmer would have broken the stool

After hip surgery?  Yeah, actually I could.

@Volsball33  @ThomasWayneWren Mike Hamilton was the problem, NOT Coach Fulmer.  I'll say it again, because EVERYONE keeps forgetting Mike Hamilton.  Mike Hamilton was the problem, NOT Coach Fulmer!

@BillJones1 Fulmer was too tough to ever sit on a stool for any thing.  Dooley is too soft and feminine and weak and his team plays weak like Dooley.

@BillJones1  @Al6 Bill, actually you're the dumb ass here. Ray was referring to the fact that Dooley was using the stool because of HIS hip surgery.
