Mike Brown’s son receives threats on Twitter

The frustrations of many Lakers fans during the team’s 1-4 start has been directed at coach Mike Brown. Some Lakers fans have gone to extremes by threatening Brown’s son, Elijah, on Twitter, according to the Orange County Register.
Mike Brown was unaware of the threats directed at his son, a basketball player at Mater Dei High School, even though he has arranged for a friend to monitor his son’s Twitter account.
“That’s news to me,” Brown said after Thursday’s practice. “I will alert Lakers security.
“That’s the tough part about this business. To go after somebody’s family or something like that is, in my opinion, just ridiculous. It’s stupid, crazy, whatever you want to call it. They (family members) have nothing to do with what’s going on right now.”
Elijah Brown appeared to take the threats in stride:
Coaches fault when they lose but players glory when they win.. I'm not trippin well be straight!—

Lakers family members reached out via Twitter to defend and support Elijah Brown. Kristen Blake, wife of Lakers guard Steve Blake wrote:
Leave Mike Brown's son alone. What's wrong with u people?! Stop attacking FAMILIES! How would you feel if YOUR family was treated like that?—

It's sad... while social media has given people an opportunity to chime in, share and discuss their opinions no matter where they are at, its also given cowards the platform to act disrespectful since they'll say things they would never have the heart to say to someone's face without possibly getting dropped or worse.
Going after an individual's family member? Completely LAME! People who do that should probably stop following sports and find a new hobby, because apparently their lives are missing some substance.
