Agent: Joakim Soria would set up for Mariano Rivera

The agent for free agent reliever Joakim Soria said Monday that his client would be more than happy to entertain offers from the New York Yankees, reports ESPN.com.
Oscar Suarez said Soria would not mind being in a setup role pitching in front of closer Mariano Rivera. Rivera, who is not under contract, informed the Yankees this past weekend that he plans to pitch this season after missing the majority of the 2012 season with a torn ACL.
Soria did not pitch this season for the Kansas City Royals after having Tommy John surgery. The team declined his $8 million option for next season.
“If the Yankees call, we will be all ears,” Suarez said. “If there is a fit, Joakim would be elated to work with Mo. He would close everywhere except there. Joakim is not a greedy individual. He wants to win so if it is (the) right situation he is probably not going to be a guy to wait until February. If he goes back to Kansas City, he loves the people and he will be part of the rebuilding process.”
In the previous four seasons before 2012, Soria averaged 36 saves a season.

Soria would be well worth the risk and you can never have enough pitching. David Robertson is less than he once was and the Yankees are in no position to begin playing it cheap now.

LikeThis sounds like someone smells big $$$$ , we're better off signing Soriano in case Mo is done. we have Robertson already as a set up man so no thanks Mr. Soria.
