Best started the season on the PUP list, making him ineligible until Week 6, at which time he was not cleared by a team of independent doctors to play.
Best has not played since the Week 6 game against the 49ers in 2011, when he suffered a concussion.
Martin Mayhew released the following statement regarding the Lions’ decision:
There has been subsequent evaluation and consultation regarding Jahvid since our last update (October 15). As has been the case throughout, we have deferred to the medical experts and support their current recommendation that Jahvid not return to the field this season.
With Best out for all of 2012 and most of 2011, the question is whether this decision ends Best’s season or his career.
And now the question: Season or career?
