DeAngelo Hall faces possible NFL suspension for incident from Redskins-Steelers game

NFL

DeAngelo Hall could be suspended for the Redskins’ game against the Panthers on Sunday.

The NFL is considering a suspension for Washington Redskins starting cornerback DeAngelo Hall in the wake of his ejection in Sunday’s loss in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, according to Mark Maske and Mike Jones of The Washington Post:

The league is reviewing the matter and all disciplinary options will be considered, the person said Monday, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the review is ongoing.

There’s no indication at this time whether he is more likely to face a fine, suspension or penalty for excessive arguing with the refs during Sunday’s loss.

Hall had reportedly grown irate with the refs after he believed they missed a flag on Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who Hall claims had taken a cheap shot at him. After the play, Hall approached the refs for an explanation and refused to back away after being told to go to the sideline.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan agreed with Hall that there should’ve been a flag on the play and said that while he doesn’t disagree with Hall for asking the refs for an explanation, Shanahan said it could’ve been handled more professionally:

“Until he took his helmet off, it’s exactly what I ask our guys to do,” Shanahan said. Initially I thought he did everything perfect. . . . There’s no excuse for having personal fouls, no matter what happens. . . . You still have to handle yourself the right way.”

If Hall is suspended, he would miss the Redskins’ next game at home against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 4.
