Mack Brown: Longhorn Network “a true advantage to anybody else”

Texas head football coach Mack Brown has spoken out against one of his school’s biggest recruiting advantages.

Brown spent the first portion of his press conference today railing against the Longhorn Network, the Texas athletics-focused TV channel created by ESPN and the university. As part of their coverage of Longhorns football, the network is granted access to film the first 30 minutes of every Texas football practice, and requires Brown to be filming for various TV shows for six hours per week.

“It’s in Waco. Baylor sees every practice,” Brown said. “We’re a little overexposed.”

“It’s a true advantage (for opponents). They can watch our attitude, they can watch our coaches,” Brown said.

However, Brown stopped short of saying he would no longer participate in the network’s broadcasts.

“I’m a soldier,” Brown said. “They tell me to go work with the Longhorn Network, I’ll go do it.”
