The Dallas Cowboys fear linebacker Sean Lee needs season ending surgery on his right big toe that was injured in the team’s victory over the Carolina Panthers, reports ESPN.com.

Lee was on crutches after the game because of a sprained toe suffered in the third quarter of the Cowboys 19-14 victory. He is listed as questionable for the Cowboys’ home game on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Lee had an MRI on Monday and coach Jason Garrett said later in the afternoon the team was still awaiting the results. It is not clear whether Lee has suffered a case of turf toe or not. After the game Sunday, Lee said he would be OK, but he wore his tennis shoes to the bus with a suit.

Lee, in his third season out of Penn State, has 58 tackles and one interception this season.

Also, the Cowboys are favored this weekend vs. the Giants in Dallas.  How is that possible?  Good money, smart money, even the money used for your monthly mortgage payment should be put on the Giants to cover.  Consider also the moneyline bet which pays better than 2-1 if the Giants win outright.

@John4 only a degenerate gambler would suggest that ANY sports bet is worthy of betting the mortgage on. And for the record, the odds have moved and the Giants are the fave now. Oh yeah, and Dallas did win at New York in week 1. Sorry you lost your house that week...

Lee has become one of the leaders of a Dallas defense.  Without him, the Cowboys are looking at 6-10 or 7-9.  They simply do not have a very good team, and Lee was one of the players they could rely on.  His loss will hurt their defense more than most people realize.
