Amare Soudemire to miss 2-3 weeks with knee injury
Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire has yet another injury to deal with, and the season hasn’t even started yet. Newsday’s Al Iannazzone reports that Stoudemire left the team’s practice in Syracuse, NY this morning to get treatment on a ruptured popliteal cyst in his left knee. The injury won’t require surgery, but it will require missing 2-3 weeks, including the start of the regular season.

The injury is a blow to a Knicks team that hasn’t had a lot of opportunity to play all five starters together during this preseason. Knicks coach Mike Woodson told Iannazzone that Kurt Thomas will start in place of Stoudemire when the Knicks play the Philadelphia 76ers at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Monday.
