Ken Rosenthal added details on the injury:

Garcia left Game 2 after just 2 innings and 51 pitches and underwent an MRI. He won’t be eligible to pitch if the Cards advance to the NLCS but could return for the World Series. Garcia’s replacement, Shelby Miller, gave up only two earned runs and whiffed 16 in 13.2 innings during the regular season. St. Louis is tied 1-1 in the series with the Nationals; Game 3 will be Wednesday afternoon in D.C.
