NFL fines Patriots LB Brandon Spikes $21K for blindside block

New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was fined $21,000 by the NFL for an illegal blindside block on Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler.

Despite Spikes’ statement that “I don’t think I’ve done anything illegal,” a fine was expected after he launched himself at Chandler and struck him in the head. No penalty was called on the fourth-quarter interception return, but Chandler was knocked out of the game.

The Buffalo News reported Chandler was medically cleared for contact by Monday and didn’t miss any practice this week.
