2012 MLB season posts best attendance since 2008

The 2012 Major League Baseball regular season saw the most fans attending games since 2008, according to a report on Sportsbusinessnews.com.

The MLB’s 30 teams drew a combined 74,859,268 fans over the course of 2,423 games this season, which is also a 2.0 percent increase over the 2011 season. The 2012 sseason is also in the top five best-attended seasons in MLB history, topped by the 2007 (first), 2008 (second), 2006 (third) and 2005 (fourth) seasons.

The Philadelphia Phillies had the season’s best average attendance with just over 44,000 fans per game, while the New York Yankees topped the American League.
