John Elway endorses Mitt Romney for president

Former Broncos quarterback and current executive vice president of football operations John Elway endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for president Monday and introduced Romney at a Colorado rally later in the night.
“Governor Romney is a proven leader with the experience and background to turn around our struggling economy,” Elway said in a release provided by the Romney campaign.
“In these tough economic times, we need a president who understands how to get America working again – by standing on the side of taxpayers and small-business owners who do the real job creating. I am endorsing Governor Romney and Congressman [Paul] Ryan for President and Vice President because I know having the courage to make decisions and tackle challenges is what leads to results and real change. America needs a comeback team – Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are that team.”
The endorsement caused a stir in Republican circles, and the news led the conservative-leaning Drudge Report website Monday night.
Elway was the second prominent football executive to pump up Romney’s candidacy on Monday. Earlier in the day, Jets owner Woody Johnson told Bloomberg that he would choose Romney winning the election over the Jets having a winning season.
Elway’s endorsement of Republican candidates is nothing new, however. In 2008, he endorsed Republican John McCain as his campaign was fading in late October, telling a crowd he knew “a thing or two about comebacks.” In 2004, Elway endorsed former President George W. Bush, who was running for re-election.
“Leaders come in many forms, and John Elway has always exemplified leadership, first as a quarterback for the Super Bowl champion Broncos, and now as an executive vice president for the team,” Romney said in the release.
“He’s had to overcome challenges during his career, and he knows what it takes to turn things around when things get tough. I’m proud to have him on my team as we campaign to lead the comeback this nation desperately needs.”
Please explain to me how replacing one plutocratic, millionaire Harvard lawyer with another plutocratic, millionaire Harvard lawyer is going to make a difference. Which one of these two candidates gets millions of dollars from Wall St? Oh yeah, both of them. It's like choosing STDs. No matter who wins, we lose. Romney = Obama.

LikeThe rich make a lot of donations, thats why they get many tax credits. Do not blame rich people, they have worked hard to be where they are, luck also plays a part. Hard work + Luck = Rich.

LikeI just love how people who know nothing about how the economy works are so quick to jump into the fray. If liberals actually knew what the hell they were doing and not just dreaming up pipe-dreams in college it would be different. To me it makes perfect sense: I WANT the rich guy in office. I WANT someone who knows how to make money and how to spend it. America is broke, people. Why would we trust someone who's never even had a real job or ever lived in the real economy? Obama NEVER in his life has lived among the people he says he represents.
Just my thoughts. If you you disagree...well...you can be wrong. I'll let you.

LikeWho cares about these endorsements? I never bought a product because some athlete did (Sorry Grant Hill, but I don't drink Sprite) and I sure as hell don't vote based on some endorsement. I hate to use the obnoxious adage but "why is this news?"

People like Elway and others in the Republican party care more than the Democrats about people. That is why their charitable donations FAR exceed what the Democrats give. It is because the Republicans care. I know, that is anathema, practically impossible, to the Democrats. They also understand that to truly help people, if you really, really care, you will not create an environment of fiscal irresponsibility and entitlement and big goverment. It is for the very basic reason of that it doesn't work out. It doesn't really help - it just gives the impression of help.
The Democrats like to intoxicate themselves with delusions of helping people and think that spending other peoples money is somehow helping (and in isolated situations it does help). It is not, in the long run, helping. It is sorely misguided.

LikeDavid1225 JBockert I think you guys misunderstand my point. I don't give a hoot about Republicans or Democrats, Conservatives or Liberals. They all just waste their time bickering with each other it's a wonder that even the basic needs are met.
My question is who cares about these endorsements. Obviously there are people who support certain parties and whatnot, but is there really this huge wave of people who go out and say "I'm voting for ____ because they got endorsed by ______!"
