Andrew Bynum out three weeks for “precautionary measures”

The Philadelphia 76ers marquee summer acquisition will have to wait a little bit longer to get on the court. The team’s public relations director Michael Preston announced on Twitter that center Andrew Bynum will be held out of basketball-related activities for three weeks as he recovers from an off-season procedure.

The Orthokine procedure mentioned is the same treatment given to and championed by Kobe Bryant in advance of last season. Bynum underwent the procedure to help heal a bone bruise in his right knee, in the hopes of making this season a healthy one. Bynum has struggled with injuries throughout his career, though he did play and start in 60 of the Lakers’ 66 games last season, hitting a career high in minutes per game.

Take it from a Laker fan: This is just the beginning. Nobody sits better than Bynum.
