Pats grant TE Kellen Winslow release, according to source

Pats tight end Kellen Winslow requested to be released, and the team acquiesced according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter who broke the news via Twitter:
TE Kellen Winslow asked for and received release from Patriots, per source. Also sounds like Aaron Hernandez healing quicker than expected.—

Winslow signed a one-year contract with New England on Sept. 19, three days after Aaron Hernandez suffered a right ankle sprain in the team’s 20-18 loss to the Cardinals during Week 2. He had one reception for 12 yards as Hernandez’s replacement in Sunday’s 31-30 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. Winslow, 29, was the 6th overall draft pick by the Browns in 2004 and is entering his eighth season in the league.
