Bill Belichick fined $50,000 for grabbing referee after game

Bill Belichick will be fined $50,000 for making contact with a referee after the Pats’ 31-30 loss to the Ravens, reported NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport via Twitter:
The NFL has fined #Patriots coach Bill Belichick $50K for "impermissible physical contact with an official," league announced.—

Belichick grabbed an official’s arm on his way off the field after the Ravens’ winning field goal. The Pats coach said on Monday he was trying to find out if the kick was being reviewed.
“I’ve coached in this league a long time,” Belichick said. “I’ve never been penalized, never had any incidents with officials or anything like that. I have never meant any disrespect or in any way tried to abuse or be disrespectful to the officials and the job that they do. I was trying to get an explanation for obviously an important call/play in that game.”
Before last week’s games, the league had issued a warning about improper conduct between coaches and replacement officials. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was called on Ravens coach John Harbaugh during the fourth quarter–Harbaugh later said he inadvertently bumped an official while trying to call a timeout–but no fine was issued.

Wow 50k like $2 for the rest of us. That punishment really says something, huh? In addition to being a cheater...he lost his temper....

LikeDamn Bill, next time slug him; at least that's worth $50k and all the free press Kraft could ever hope for.

LikeThe NFL is fining all these coaches for their mistake. They hired these rejects, and all the incidents were not purposeful actions to try to intimidate the refs, but just try to understand what the heck was going on.

LikeBelichick and the rest of the coaches should just deck the idiot refs if they're going to be fined anyway.

LikeRickapolis Dude, It's been 10 years...let it go. What the Saints "Allegedly" did was far worse, why don't you pick on them for a while. or maybe a modern issue, current events not your forte' ?

Likeal5 Rickapolis He never said it was recent or that he is dwelling on it. But it did happen, and they did get fined for it, and thus Belichick lied (or conveniently forgot) when he made that statement. It's not a big deal, but don't be a homer about it. Also, the Saints have nothing to do with this article or that statement, so that's completely irrelevant.

LikeWOW all he did was asking for a explanation and the POS ( who by the way was not even qualified for division 1 as a ref there is a article on it today also ) and he just TOTALLY IGNORED both coaches and threw a flag because Ravens coach John Harbaugh wanted to call a time out ...! come on whom disrespected who He is lucky he did not get Knocked the "F----K Out "

LikeKenMoore What are you talking about? You can never make physical contact w/ an official, period. Belichick knows that. His excuse that he wanted to know if they were reviewing the field goal on replay makes no sense considering that anyone could see that they weren't (do they watch reply as they are running off the field now?), and he was stopping an official who would have no say on the replay anyway. The officials do not have to bend to Belichick's will, contrary to Bill's own beliefs.

LikeWhat a mistake...... C'mon NFL, do not fall for silly people in Media (read Chris Collinsworth) who tries to twist the facts and try to influence.
We saw exactly what Chris saw and did not see anything wrong like what he tried to highlight.
