Report: Rasheed Wallace bumps Tracy McGrady off Knicks list
The Knicks were impressed enough with Rasheed Wallace’s workout to cross Tracy McGrady off their list, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.
The Post confirmed earlier reports that the 6-foot-11 center/forward worked out with the Knicks on Saturday and appears to have a benefactor in the team’s front office.
The connection is clear. Wallace and assistant general manager Allan Houston share the same agent, Bill Strickland.
If the Knicks end up signing Wallace, he’ll likely fill the role of defensive specialist, competing for minutes with Tyson Chandler, Marcus Camby and Kurt Thomas.
Wallace, who averaged 9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with the Celtics in 2009-10 before retiring, was linked to the Lakers in February.
His career NBA stats also include a dubious league-record 41 technical fouls in 2000-2001.
There's a reason why the Lakers passed on Sheed. Knicks fans will soon find out.
Someone tell my KNICKS that it's NOT 2002!!! IT'S 2012!!! Camby, Kidd, McGrady & now Rasheed? Is Shareef Rahim busy?
@P0is0nedKoolA1 Shareef is smart - he is an assistant GM right now in Kings
@AikeeCortez Thank goodness. Last thing we need is an aged player
