Video: Ichiro singles up the middle into pitcher Jarrod Parker’s jersey

Ah, the perils of loose-fitting uniforms. In the third inning of Friday’s Oakland A’s-New York Yankees game, Ichiro Suzuki hit one of his patented choppers off righthander Jarrod Parker. The ball took one hop and then bounded into Parker’s jersey, where the pitcher fumbled for it for a second before conceding first base to Ichiro.

It’s hard to tell from the replay, but it looks as if Parker bobbled the ball into his jersey, rather than the ball finding its way there on its own.

The “base hit” was the first of the game.

    I have never seen that. That is amazing. A good reason to go back to the late '70s, early '80's acrylic pullovers!
