Report: Former lottery pick Terrence Williams agrees to deal with Pistons

It’s been a a precipitous fall for swingman Terrence Williams, the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft out of Louisville by the then New Jersey Nets and expected to be a franchise building block for years.

Williams was sent to Houston early in his second season, then cut last March. A few days later he was picked up by the Sacramento Kings. In 129 career games over three seasons, Williams has averaged a respectable 7.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 20.2 minutes per game.

Now comes word from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that Williams has agreed to a training camp deal with the Detroit Pistons, in essence a glorified tryout. Pistons coach Lawrence Frank was the Nets coach during Williams’ time in New Jersey.

Williams had a multitude of DNP-CDs with the Rockets, and his attitude was questioned. Perhaps Frank can get the most out of Williams’ considerable talents.
