It will be the Battle of the Acronyms next September when TCU opens the 2013 season against LSU in the Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, multiple sources close to the negotiations told Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The two schools had been scheduled to play a home-and-home in 2013 and ’14, but they tore up that contract and agreed to one neutral-site game. It will be the second time in the classic for both schools; the Horned Frogs beat Oregon State in 2010 and LSU beat Oregon last season.

Alabama trounced Michigan in this year’s version of the game, with the two sides splitting a $9.4 million take.

It will not be the Battle of the Acronyms. LSU and TCU are not acronyms because these letter combinations do not spell words.

It will be the Battle of the Initialisms.

Not as catchy, but more correct.

Texas needs to grow a pair and play in one of these games.
