An Arkansas football program still reeling from last week’s 34-31 upset loss to Louisiana-Monroe — not to mention numerous off-season distractions — will reportedly attempt to rebound against Alabama without starting quarterback Tyler Wilson.

Arkansas sports talk show host Bo Mattingly reports Wilson has not been cleared to play after suffering a head injury that required hospitalization last week.

Sources told ESPN.com that Wilson will not play, despite Arkansas coach John L. Smith calling it a game-time decision.

“There will be no further update on Tyler Wilson’s status today,” Smith said in a statement.

Arkansas reportedly will start redshirt freshman Brandon Allen or junior Brandon Mitchell, who returned to take quarterback reps at this week’s practices after opening the season as a receiver.

We dang near killed him last year. Wilson took an unmerciful pounding and kept getting up. The kid is unbelievably tough, but a concussion is absolutely nothing to mess with.

I can't see where the Hogs have a chance in this game so why risk further injury to their starting QB? A good choice..
