Derek Jeter scoffs at bone bruise, insists he’s good to go for Yankees-Sox game in Boston

Derek Jeter was his usual self when he asked by the media whether the bone bruise in his left ankle that he aggravated in Wednesday night’s win over the Boston Red Sox would keep him out of the last game of the series tonight at Fenway Park.

According to a report Thursday morning from Dan Martin of The New York Post, the Yankees’ short stop said he’s playing and it’s as simple as that:

[T]he shortstop said he would be back in the lineup tonight at Fenway  Park.

“I don’t talk about injuries,” Jeter said. “I’m playing, so it’s not an  issue.”

Jeter was seen limping in Wednesday night’s game after extending himself to avoid an inning-ending double-play grounder at second base. He left the game after team manager Joe Girardi and the team trainer came out to the field to check on him and Jayson Nix replaced him. If he does not play tonight, Eduardo Nunez could start in his place, and Robinson Cano suggested that Jeter’s nagging injury could be more serious than initially reported:

“He always plays hurt,” Robinson Cano said. “I was concerned. That’s a guy who never leaves a game.”

The Yankees next play at home against the Tampa Bay Rays after they wrap up their series in Boston on Thursday.

Of course he wants to play. He's only one base hit behind the great Willie Mays!

Actually this isn't a reply  to duckeee, just a comment.  Maybe Girardi ought to insist he sit out until we play the Rays.  Lot more important to  have him well than play  against the poopheads from Boston.
