Washington State QB Jeff Tuel left Saturday’s win over Eastern Washington after apparently injuring his right knee while being sacked on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Tuel left the field under his own power and was spotted walking the sideline with an ice pack wrapped around the joint.

However, afterward neither the senior nor coach Mike Leach would elaborate on the injury.

“He took me out because I was just actually feeling too good,” Tuel said, according to Christian Caple of the Spokane Spokesman-Review.

Leach was also in a joking mood, saying, “We don’t have injuries around here so he’s 100 percent and I would think if anything, he can run a 4.5 now instead of a 4.7.”

Sophomore Connor Halliday, who was locked in a tight battle with Tuel during camp, finished out the game and would start if Tuel is out for any period of time.
