Illinois junior quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase has been ruled out of Saturday night’s game at Arizona State after testing the left ankle he sprained last week in the Illini’s season opener.

Sophomore Reilly O’Toole will get the start, but junior Miles Osei is also expected to see action under center. (Osei also plays receiver.) The two split first-team snaps this week when Scheelhaase was sidelined on Monday and Tuesday.

Scheelhaase had started 27 straight games at quarterback after redshirting the 2009 season. He has thrown for more than 4,000 yards in his career.
