Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp will miss the remainder of the weekend series against the San Francisco Giants due to an ailing shoulder, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Kemp will undergo a contrast MRI on his shoulder today.

Kemp is currently in a 3-for-30 slump and has only 12 hits in his last 73 at-bats. Kemp has only played in 85 games this season, hitting .315 with 18 homers and 56 RBI.

“He needs to find out exactly what it is,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said.

A Dodgers trainer thinks Kemp jammed the shoulder when he put his arm up to protect his face as he crashed into a Coors Field wall on Aug. 28. He was originally diagnosed with a bone bruise above his knee and a bruised jaw.

But team officials decided to have Kemp get an MRI to make certain nothing else was happening. Dodgers trainer Sue Falsone said Kemp would likely also have a cortisone injection.
