Lance Armstrong’s troubles continue.  The city of Chicago won’t let Armstrong run in the city’s annual marathon set for October, reports ESPN.com.

The city is upholding the ruling made by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency that Armstrong not only be stripped of his seven Tour de France cycling titles but banned for life from all sports as well.

Armstrong had planned to run and raise money for his cancer foundation, Livestrong. USA Track & Field must enforce rulings made by USADA.

“We got the news (Thursday),” said Mark Fabiani, Armstrong’s spokesman, according to Runner’s World.

“It seems a little over the top to pursue him beyond the cycling arena to me,” John Conley, whose company owns and operates the Livestrong Austin Marathon and Half Marathon, told Runner’s World.

Lance is FOREVER banned from all USA-YOU-NAME-IT (Cycling, Triathlon, Track and Field) competitions, EVER, because he's been training and racing doped for at least dating back to well before eyewitnesses heard and saw him tell doctors what he'd used for several YEARS, when he was diagnosed with cancer in 1996!

You can't let a guy who's built his VO2Max on EPO for the last 17 YEARS compete in legit, cash prize and sponsorship-laden athletics because YOU think it'd be 'cool'.

He's banned for LIFE! He ROBBED sponsors, other athletes, and countless companies of up to $5milliion dollars that he may yet do Jail time for perjury over. He was ROBBING Triathletes of Cash prizes and sponsorship recognition in the Ironman as recently as June.

You may not be able to face that he robbed YOU of dreams of riding Alpe d'Huez, but it's not ridiculous for legit sporting events to be barring him from competition.

Let his handlers and flunkies spin it however they want. If he was in jail, because Doping was a crime as it is in several European countries, it might be clearer to some, but the years of doping and the widespread knowledge on beating the tests is clear enough.

The real question is why was the gov. racketeering investigation stopped at 5pm on Friday before the Superbowl by the ex-coworker of Lance's attorneys, especially when several working on the case had told media within just the 2 weeks before that the case was very strong. Those folks were given 1/2 hour notice that it was over, and that they were not to talk to the media. It was a one-person decision that is exactly what it looks like. Crap.

Livestrong my ass. You're a cheater.

At least Lisa Keller (here) understands the snowjob Armstrong Corp (err Livestrong) continues to dole out to the schleps (media and LA-fans) to gobble up. Some others got to give their head a shake.

Gotta love all these people (Fabiani, Conley) riding the coattails of the Armstrong Corp juggernaut all these years, whining now that their easy ticket's going down the drain.

Hey, less Livestrong fundraising, less yellow rubber bands at the dump. Everyone just send your money instead to a cancer RESEARCH (rather than AWARENESS) foundation.

Anyways, I thought Lance wasn't going to whine, bitch, moan and complain anymore -- that he'd had enough? Time to retire from not just sports, but from the snowjob too.

Lance Armstrong needs to accept that he is a known cheater who is a bad role model for our young people. If he were to apologize and accept responsibility for his offenses then I for one would be sympathetic towards him. Until then he should be treated like the man he is, a cheating liar who lies about his cheating.

Chicago Marathon needs to get a life!  Barring Lance from the Marathon is crazy.  This is not his sport and we know he is not going to win.  If he does, then if you want to test him drugs that is fine.   Do run drug test on the top winners of Marathon or even the winner of the Marathon.  This is not fair!!!  The government has not found him guilt of anything.  USADA needs to remove USA from its name.  The treatment of Lance is un-American and I and most Americans do not support it.  When he was winning in his sports, the drug tests did not find anything wrong....not once but seven titles!  If something was wrong then, that was time to deal with it.  USADA does not have my support or trust!  I am also equally upset with Chicago Marathon as Chicago resident, this is wrong PR for the race!!!!!!   They need to apologize to Lance for this story and let him know that he is welcome along with all other runners!

@davised49 You're right.. Superman are not cheaters as long as they do not get busted. The Government never tried him therefore, he's clean... It seems that you really know the difference between giving up the charges and a verdict. Do most Americans support cheaters? You're too presumptuous to claim it. All riders accused of doping confessed at some point. ALL OF THEM. Why don't you ask Greg LeMond? Armstong is a friend and a customer of Michele Ferrari.. Maybe he was just buying some "Italian gummy bears"..

Speak for yourself, when you say most Americans. Most of Americans really do support the ban.

@davised49 the Chicago Marathon is not making any decision here; they are simply doing what the rules require, it's a default action of the existing ban. LA d*mn well knows that he cannot take part in any event sanctioned by any NGB. This is all a PR show to create an ongoing victim/martyr narrative for the naive masses who don't know the rules of sport, and you've taken the bait, hook, line and sinker.

The Chicago Marathon is bound by the World Anti-Doping Code, Lance can contest these charges if he wants...Oh wait...he chose to quit instead didn't he.

The case brought up was way too late. The World ADA statue of limitations expired since it has a 7 year limit. The WADA permitting the USADA to go beyond the statute of limitations i think is ridiculous. His teammates could have brought it up earlier but instead made the big push at the end of the statute of limitations. Why did they wait oh so long? Sorry but something smells fishy from both sides. Either Lance wasn't a doper or he ran a pretty good PR campaign.

@dhodun    You don't seem to understand that the timing of the USADA action is a result of the federal investigation that began 2 years ago. USADA doesn't have subpoena powers, they can't search a guy's apartment in Italy and so on. They couldn't make eg, Hincapie talk. Only the Feds can make all that happen. the federal investigation provided the level of evidence required to back up the rest that was already available. And yes, he ran a very good PR campaign, as he continues to do with the nonsensical basis of this article (ie, there is no choice whatsoever on the part of the Chicago Marathon, they are not banning anyone per se. It's a default result of his existing ban, nothing more. And LA's team d*mn well knows that. The media just misinform people by giving these PR elements a platform for such ridiculous statements.
