O’Neil was named president of MSG in July of 2008 and oversees the business operations of the New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty and Hartford Wolfpack, in addition to events at MSG-owned venues such as Madison Square Garden. The reason for O’Neil’s supposed departure has yet to be determined.
Scott O'Neil has been a rising star in the business and made MSG a bundle of money. No word yet on why he's stepping down.—

O’Neil received his MBA from Harvard and was named to Street and Smiths Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40 Hall of Fame.
