Teammate Josh Morgan: RGIII is a combination of Vick, Manning and Brady

NFL

In an article posted on Saturday, Washington Redskins wide receiver Josh Morgan told Michael Coleman of On Tap magazine that rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is a combination of three of the NFL’s elite signal-callers.

“He’s as fast as Michael Vick but he can make all the throws that Peyton Manning can make and he can make all the reads Tom Brady can make,” Morgan said. “He’s got the whole package.”

Talk about raising the bar. Coach Mike Shanahan has been pretty effusive in his praise of Griffin, but we can’t help but wonder what he thinks about Morgan’s hyperbole.

Morgan, by the way, is in his first season with Washington after spending four years with the San Francisco 49ers. Maybe he’s just lobbying for throws?

Too early to tell. Some great college QBs were just beat up so bad the first year they never made it. Most #1 qbs went where they were drafted and ended up on a terrible team [Stafford, Harrington, Bradford, Carr ect, ect}. Not every QB has the temperment to be beat up like Stafford was and keep plugging along. Washington is a much, much better team than the 0-16 Lions so unless his running gets him killed he should be fine. Remember he also has to deal with his old friends and relatives while being a young millionaire. That has unraveled many nfl players not only QBs.

Unfortunately for RG3, he has Alex Smith's wide receiver. (-;

wouldn't you think that it would be "...can make all the throws that Tom Brady can make and he can make all the reads Peyton Manning can make." I feel that Brady has a bomb and as we all know Peyton is still a little iffy when it comes to the hole neck thing. I just feel that the comparison was backwards.

what would Morgan know about Brady or Manning that he could see it in a rookie?!

But remember when Bo Jackson made comments about Cam Newton last year, saying that he revolutionize  the Qb position. And Look @ the year he had.

Has he caught passes from Manning? Raced Micheal Vick? Or Been around to see how Brady reads the field?

Morgan may be right about RGIII's quickness ... but let's allow him to throw a pass in NFL games before we compare his skills to Manning and Brady.  He would not be the first "can't miss" prospect who missed.

Every year there is a hotshot prospect that most writers want to claim is a reincarnation of all past players rolled into one. Said player proves to be mediocore at best or Vince Young at worst. Let him play 2 or 3 years before putting him in the hall of fame or giving him the Nobel-Peace award

This is a little bit silly.  You don't need to compare RG3 to three different QBs in combination.  There are two individual QBs, one from the past and one from the present, that RG3's skill-set already parallels.

Steve Young, and Aaron Rodgers.

(oh and btw, the Vick comparison is just flat wrong... RG3 is athletic, but nowhere near that athletic... it's funny how people feel like they have to compare RG3 to some other black QB, but the fact is there is none)

Eaaaasy there...I think the kid has talent but he has a lot to prove.  First and foremost he needs to stay healthy given his very thin frame.

@JasmineJones that was warren moon, who still stuck on how he was treated as a black qb,which i dont doubt but cam will go through nothing like Moon went

@JasmineJones thats the first thing i thought, how does a guy whos only caught balls from Alex Smith think he knows what manning brady and vick play lick?

@JohnKennedy and these "Wunder QB'S"are usually black but lak mack vick or wonderlic young they don't have staying power.

Think we could fact check that one. Leaf, Couch, Carr, Shuler, Klingler were to JohnKennedy's point thought of very highly, and probably represent the majority of the near-can't-miss qb busts. Regardless, dont think it has much to do with race anyway....poorly placed hype is colorblind

He doesn't need to be heavier.  He doesn't need to be a Newton or Vick.

RG3 is a mobile passer in the Steve Young mold, that can occasionally rush if the defense gives it to him when he rolls out of the pocket.  His physique is already NFL-suitable for that.
