Report: Prospective Coyotes buyer secures financing, deal imminent

Former San Jose Sharks president and CEO Greg Jamison has finally arranged for financing to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes, a source tells Scott Burnside of ESPN.com. Some members of a competing effort to purchase the club have joined Jamison’s group.
The NHL has run the Coyotes for three years. Jamison would purchase the franchise for $170 million. Arena issues are expected to be resolved by the end of September.
A second source confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday that a deal that would see the league’s three-year run as stewards of the financially beleaguered team come to an end is nearing completion.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported in late July that Jamison was $20 million short of the NHL’s $170 million asking price.
