Seattle Mariners ace pitcher Felix Hernandez was claimed on waivers Friday, but will likely not be traded, reports FoxSports.com.

Neither Hernandez nor pitcher Jason Vargas will be traded to the teams that claimed them. That was a given with Hernandez, but perhaps a deal could have been worked out with Vargas.

Hernandez has won his last nine decisions, including a perfect game on August 15. He is 13-5 overall and leads the American League with a 2.43 ERA.

I will give 1,000,000 euros to the first person to tell me who won last World Series, but it's unlikely I set a date to submit that money.

Felix Hernandez -- we love you in Seattle!!!  If you haven't already, sign Felix to a long-term contract with the big bucks!!  King Felix is guaranteed to be excellent for now and the future!!!  Safeco field is a great "pitcher's ballpark"!!  We know you love pitching there, Felix!!!  Felix, you got your perfect game in Safeco Field, right???  Stick with us, Felix!!  I'm rooting for the Mariners to make the playoffs next season!!!  We are well overdue for a pennant or wild-card or whatever!!!  And Jason Vargas:  we love you too!!  Even though you may have had a couple rough recent starts, we love you in Seattle!!  Stick with us and go for the playoff-push in 2013!!!  Plus, Jason, your control and left-handed style complements Felix's firepower!!!  And then, Iwakuma gives us an excellent 1-2-3 punch in our starting-pitching rotation!!!

It would've been nice to know which team put in a claim.
