Report: Deion Branch released by Patriots

NFL

The second Deion Branch era is over in New England. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in a tweet today that the Patriots have cut Branch from their roster – part of the final wave of cuts before the NFL roster deadline.

Branch has played for the Patriots for six of his 11 seasons in the NFL. After being drafted by the team in the second round in 2002, Branch won two Super Bowls and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005. He then moved to the Seattle Seahawks after his career year, where his production steadily declined over five years before returning to New England in 2010.

Brnach experienced something of a career resurgence once he returned to New England, gaining just over 700 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the last two seasons.
