Jose Bautista to undergo season-ending wrist surgery for Blue Jays

MLB

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista will miss the remainder of the MLB season because of wrist surgery, according to tweets Tuesday evening from Jays beat reporter Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com.

Following surgery, Bautista will have to go through three to four months of rehab before he can return to the team. Bautista is, of course, more optimistic with this timeline for progress. His left wrist tendon is not torn and the surgery will be performed to alleviate “instability.”

Bautista had been riding a 90-game streak of games started in July when he was placed on the 15-day Disabled List with wrist inflammation. He returned for two days in August but aggravated the injury again and went back on the DL.

He was in the midst of his second consecutive All-Star season.
