Usain Bolt may try for 400 meters or long jump at 2016 Olympics in Rio

At a promotional event in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Wednesday, two-time 100-meter and 200-meter Olympic champion Usain Bolt made his strongest statement yet that he will compete for more gold medals in the next Olympiad.

“Yes, definitely I will be there (in Rio), as long as I’m fit and I’m ready,” Bolt said. “It’ll be a little bit harder but I’m looking forward to it.”

Bolt also confirmed that he is considering changing things up and entering different events four years hence.

“It’s just about making different goals — there’s a lot of things I can do in the sport,” Bolt said. “My coach wants me to do 400 meters, I want to try long jump. I could always try to aim for the records again, so there’s different things, but after the season we’ll decide what we want to do and work on that next season.”

Bolt should be able to win the 400. He has 4 years to retrain, it's not like a 4x400 relay team needing 4th and asking him at the last minute....Personally, I think his body is better suited for the longer distance. I would say no to the long jump, I don't think it has the glamour that he deserves. Now I'm thinking maybe he try the 400 and the next longer distance...the 800 meter...

To see Bolt run the 400 would be a thing of beauty, presuming he can last that long, which with 4 years to prepare he might.  (Just imagine if he has a kick for the last 100!)  The long jump would be a bonus, though I don't know if his knees will take the punishment of the training, as it is a brand new aspect for him physically.
