The Milwaukee Brewers have released veteran pitcher Randy Wolf, according to reports.

Wednesday is Wolf’s 36th birthday.

The lefty has struggled for Milwaukee this season. Wolf is 3-10 with a 5.69 ERA in 24 starts. It’s a sharp drop from last season, when he went 13-10 with a 3.69 ERA.

Pitcher Shawn Marcum is scheduled to come off the disabled list this weekend, which made Wolf expendable. The team called up infielder Jeff Bianchi from the minor leagues to take Wolf’s roster spot.
