San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews broke his clavicle on his first preseason carry last week. That injury usually has a four-to-six week timetable for recovery.

But the third year back says he expects to be out on the field when the Chargers open the regular season against the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 10.  He told XTRA Sports 1360 that he “no doubt” will playing against the Raiders.

A doctor told NFL.com that Mathews’ injury will likely keep him out until October.

Mathews says he is out of a sling and his rehab ahead of schedule.
